Experimenting with my new flash. The ancient three-year-old gerbil was very tolerant.

A propos ancient.
My boss has three gerbils who are now in their 7th year. That's pretty unusual, I understand. But the funny thing is, they started to procreate, like a year and a half ago, and now they're constantly having babies. You'd think that if that was in their make-up, (my boss pretty had thought all those years that they were all of the same sex), they'd have started earlier.
Matches the human demographic in our neighbourhood though, same-sex, or past-spring-chicken parents abound here...

Seven years old? Incredible.

I know. When she said that I asked all the questions, are they really gerbils (they are Wüstenrennmäuse), any chance of a mix-up or a miscalculation... but she insists.

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that someone has tricked your boss and replaced her gerbils when they died.

That was part of my questioning...

Actually, when I immediately said that was a lot longer than they usually live (a year ago or so), she said yes, she was more than a little surprised too, but the guy at the pet shop said he's heard of it before. No idea what goes so right in their life.
